Initial Nutrition & Feeding Asssement

75-Minute Nutrition Consultation

Online: S$285; Home Visit: S$340

This assessment is our starting point and the foundation for all the work we do together. It helps us begin to understand your child or teenager's nutritional needs, their relationship with food, and the many factors shaping their eating - whether that's sensory differences, appetite changes, body image concerns, growth demands or high training loads.

What We Cover

During this session, we explore:

1. Nutrition & Growth

  • Growth history and patterns

  • Nutrient intake and adequacy

  • Sport and/or exercise demands

2. Eating Behaviours & Daily Food Experiences

  • Mealtime patterns and routines

  • Sensory preferences and sensory load

  • Stress, anxiety, or avoidance around food

  • Diet rules, compensatory behaviours, body image (for teens)

3. Medical & Developmental Background

  • Relevant medical history

  • Medication, allergies, and conditions that may affect feeding

  • Neurodivergence, emotional regulation, and executive functioning

  • Training schedules and performance demands (for athletes)

4. Your Concerns, Goals & Capacity

  • What feels worrying, stressful, or exhausting

  • What you’ve already tried

  • Your family’s values, routines, and available capacity right now

This session meets your family where you are — whether you're navigating sensory feeding challenges, food refusal, early disordered eating patterns, or the high demands of a growing athlete.

What You Will Leave With

You’ll receive:

  • Better understanding of what’s contributing to your child or teen's current eating patterns

  • 2-3 personalised strategies you can begin immediately

  • Written summary of the session (sent 2-3 work days after the consultation)

  • Guidance on next steps that match your child’s needs and your family’s capacity

  • Reassurance and direction so you no longer feel like you are figuring this out alone

Who This Session Is For

This assessment supports families with:

  • Neurodivergent children and teens

  • Sensory-based eating differences

  • Selective or “picky” eating (including Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, i.e. ARFID)

  • Youth athletes with high training volumes

  • Appetite changes or unexplained fatigue

  • Growth or weight concerns (through a weight-inclusive lens)

  • Early signs of disordered eating or increasing food anxiety

  • Outpatient Eating Disorder Nutrition Support

  • Teens navigating body image worries or rigid food rules

  • Parents feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to help

For younger children (<12), I work directly with parents/caregivers.
Older children and teenagers may join part or all of the session, depending on appropriateness and support.

If You Need to Discuss More Than One Child

Some families want to explore nutrition or eating concerns for two siblings, for example, a 'picky' eater and a teen athlete, or two children with different needs.

An extended assessment is available; please get in touch with me directly to arrange it.

After the Assessment

You will be guided through the most appropriate next steps, such as:

  • Ad-hoc follow-up sessions

  • A three-session support package

  • Referral to occupational therapists, psychologists, or medical professionals

You don’t have to decide anything alone — I’ll help you navigate what comes next.

For those living in South Africa, I am contracted in with the major South African Medical Aid Groups. Contact me for billing & payment procedures.

Open Sliding Scale Option

I reserve two sliding-scale spots in my practice for families with financial difficulties. These options allow you to decide how much you can pay for a session. A rule of thumb is to pay me what you earn as a family in 90 minutes of work. When these slots are full, I have a waitlist.
